“I am Artemis... The moon goddess who illuminates your twilight virtue... My purer half, do not be bashful of your destiny.”
Artemis is the Ultimate Persona of Maya Amano, and a demon in the Shin Megami Tensei series featured in the Persona 2 duology.
She can only be summoned once her material card has been acquired on Mt. Iwato. Her stats remain almost unchanged, but her skills have been altered somewhat.
It is the final evolved form of Maia, who evolves into Maia Prime after making all the right choices and meeting Philemon at Mt. Iwato, and later evolves into Artemis.
Physical Appearance[]
Persona Artemis was designed with the motive of a space suit, specifically the ones worn by the astronauts of the Apollo 11 during their moon landing mission in 1969. The mirror caps on the other hand are references to the Lunar Module Eagle.
She appears as a skill card in both her appearances, but they are identical to each other.
Design Variants[]
Artemis appears as a spellcard in both Persona 2s
Shadow Maya appears with the Persona Reverse Artemis, which visually looks identical except for having yellow diamonds.
Video Game Appearances[]
In Kyuyaku Megami Tensei, the remake of Megami Tensei I and II, Artemis appears as a female humanoid goddess with female breasts hanging from around her. She has black pants and long blonde hair.
In Shin Megami Tensei NINE, her design seems to be a fusion of her KMT and Persona 2 design, this time being blue with the female breast elements around her chest and head.
In Shin Megami Tensei V, she goes through a large design change, appearing as a young girl with short blonde hair and white and blue armor with a cape and a small crossbow on her arm.

Mythological Origins[]
Artemis is the virgin goddess of the hunt, childbirth, fertility and the moon, also a member of the twelve Olympians, child of Zeus and Leto along with her twin brother, Apollo, the god of arts. Depicted as a beautiful young woman, she is always said to carry her silver bow and arrows, and one of her main tasks was to protect the forests and hills. The deer and the cypress were sacred to her. As one of the most venerated deity in the ancient Greece, her figure appears constantly in various myths, usually as the one who executes punishments upon mortals who broke their oaths or have offended the gods.
