Bakugan: Bakuzon Rising is the name of the first season of G Frost's Bakugan series, preceded by Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge and succeeded by Bakugan: Elemental War. This season introduces Bakuzon, a new gameplay element.
This season follows the Bakugan species be invaded by "Bakuzons," undead and withered versions of Bakugan. When all has gone to the worst, a group of Bakuzon called the Death Bakugan rise in order to cause havoc and calamity in Vestroia. It led to the severe wiping out of Bakugan-kind, causing a need for the six leader Elemental Dragonoids to split apart and wage war for dominance over Vestroia.

The Doom Dimension, once known as the graveyard of Bakugan-kind, one day began festering some brand new evil. Pyrus Reaper, in his guarding of the Doom Dimension, became infested with some dark magic, and his wings became tattered. Soon, every Bakugan he touched became afflicted with this new disease. Bakugan touched by this dark magic became undead and were much stronger than normal Bakugan. This became a new race of Bakugan zombies known as "Bakuzon."
A faction of Bakuzon became known as the Death Bakugan, and waged war on the entire species.
