Chainsaw Man (チェンソーマン, Chensōman) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Fujimoto Tatsuki. The manga is separated into two published parts, with the second currently ongoing.
Starting in 2022, the series has been adapted into a TV anime by MAPPA, and so far has adapted the first few arcs of Part 1 into one season and an upcoming film.

Chainsaw Man was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2018 until 2020, when it then transferred to Shonen Jump+ online magazine, where the current story continues. The series is currently collected in 19 Tankōbon volumes.
The series has over 29 million copies in print, and the seventh best-selling manga in 2021 with over 5 million copies sold. It is also licensed in English France, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, Thailand, Poland, Germany, Argentina, Taiwan, South Korea, Russia, and in Vietnam. The weekly manga chapters are simultaneously published in English and Spanish alongside the Japanese release.
Premise[]
Chainsaw Man follows the story of Denji, an impoverished young man who makes a contract that fuses his body with that of a dog-like devil named Pochita, granting him the ability to transform parts of his body into chainsaws. Denji eventually joins the Public Safety Devil Hunters, a government agency focused on fighting against devils whenever they become a threat to the world.
In Part 2, the story follows Asa Mitaka, host of the War Devil Yoru, as she attempts to locate Chainsaw Man who is enrolled in the same high school as her.

Denji is a lonely boy who one day meets a Devil, Pochita. The two end up becoming friends, however Denji is soon killed and to save him, Pochita becomes his new heart, making him a human-devil hybrid and allowing him to become the Chainsaw Man. Soon after that, Denji meets Makima and decides to follow her and join the Public Safety and become a Devil Hunter. At his new job, he makes new friends, like Aki Hayakawa and Power, and together they go on different missions to exterminate devils. Eventually, Aki and Power are killed and Makima is exposed to be the Control Devil, who wants to control the Chainsaw Devil. Denji is then forced to fight and defeat Makima and her new squad of hybrids.

Sometime after leaving the Public Safety, Denji has now started to go to high school, while he also continues to exterminate devils. He still wishes to get a girlfriend and often tries to "accidentally" expose his identity as Chainsaw Man. Meanwhile, the War Devil returns to the world seeking revenge against the Chainsaw Devil. It possesses a loner high school girl, Asa Mitaka, who goes to the same school as Denji and makes her search for the Chainsaw Man's true identity.
