Izanagi is the initial Persona of Yu Narukami, and a demon in the Shin Megami Tensei series. He is the mascot Persona of Persona 4 and Persona 4 Golden.
When the protagonist first encounters the Shadows, Izanagi's voice prompts him to awaken to the power within. The protagonist then mutters the word "Persona" and summons forth Izanagi.
It evolves into Izanagi-no-Okami at the end of Persona 4's story when Yu conjures up the bonds he's created with his friends in Inaba.
Physical Appearance[]
Izanagi appears as a samurai robot wearing a mask and a black cloak. He wields a blade and is very slender.
Design Variants[]
Izanagi appears in Persona 5 DLC in a Picaro form, which is a form he takes after being influenced by the Phantom Thieves of Hearts.
Video Game Appearances[]
Izanagi appears in Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei as a man in a robe with long black hair.
In Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, Izanagi is a figure who will reward the Demi-Fiend with an extra Press Turn during New Game Plus. He appears as a ghostly figure with hair tied up in two buns.

Izanagi's main attribute is electricity, and his ultimate attack is Myriad Truths, which the word of power that banishes all the world's curses and falsehoods.
Mythological Origins[]
Izanagi (伊邪那岐, 伊弉諾) is a Japanese creation deity born of the seven divine generations in Japanese mythology. He is also referred to in various chronicles such as the Kojiki and Nihon Shiki as Izanagi-no-Mikoto (伊邪那岐命, 伊弉諾尊), the "male-who-invites."
