“I'm not doin' anything unless it makes me money...”
Jodio Joestar is the protagonist of The JOJOLands, and the ninth protagonist of the series. He has yet to be referred to as "JoJo".
He is a drug peddler in Hawaii whose main goal is to become filthy stinking rich. He deals drugs and commits crimes for the sake of protecting his mother with his sister Dragona and other Stand Users. His first mission was to steal a priceless diamond from a Japanese tourist on vacation in Hawaii, that goes awry and ends with Jodio being in possession of a lava rock capable of defying the laws of nature, leading him and his crew to end up aiming to take down the likes of the Howler Infrastructure Company.

Jodio's emblem
He is a Stand User and wields the Stand November Rain, with the ability to apply gravity to droplets of rain.
Physical Appearance[]
He appears to have short light hair, perhaps two-toned, that covers one of his eyes. He wears it in a tiny braid on the right side of his cheek, with a star shaped pin. His outfit is a light hoodie with a black collar and white trim. His sleeves are long and have black cuffs, and he wears black gloves. He wears one earring on his left ear that are in the shapes of the letters J and O stacked on top of each other.
Design Variants[]
In his first appearance in Departure, Jodio is seen with an early design with a ponytail and sideburns.
In That Absurd Event That Happened to Me That Year, Jodio appears as an 11-year-old boy, his design is similar to his current one but he has a "JO" emblem on his torso reminiscent of Jolyne's JO belt buckle.
In that same chapter, Jodio appears in his bed-time attire which consists of a green sleeveless shirt.
Also in Departure, while describing how different he is compared to the squares he goes to school with, he is pictured among other hooligans wearing gold chains and jewelry.
In South King Street, Jodio appears altered on the camera at the villa by Usagi's Stand The Matte Kudesai.
In The Villa on Hawaii Island, Part 1, Jodio wears the hood on his outfit while shielding himself from his Stand's rain.
In Mount Hualālai - Cat Size, Part 2, Jodio is tied up by Wild Cat Size's Stand and hung upside down from a tree.
In Lulu's Bags' Groove, Part 2, Jodio's appearance is once again altered by The Matte Kudesai, this time making him appear as a young boy with a black bucket hat wearing a sleeveless V-neck shirt.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Jodio and his sister Dragona first awakened to their Stand abilities while Jodio was protecting Dragona from bullies. Because of that incident, their father got fired from his job and moved away, making their mother be forced to have to pick up two jobs. Because of this, when Jodio was 11, he started peddling drugs and rose his way up to selling them for his school principal, Meryl Mei Qi. All of this is done so that his mother, Barbara-Ann, will be able to live peacefully and be taken care of.
The First Mission; The Villa on Hawaii Island[]
Jodio and his sister Dragona were on their way to deliver drugs when they were suddenly stopped by police officers. One of the officers assaults Dragona, and Jodio gets out of the car to use his Stand and defeat the both of them. Dragona thanks her brother and the two of them take the truck they stole to deliver the drugs again.
Later that day Jodio is called into Iko Iko, the fashion store that Dragona works at, by their boss, Meryl Mei Qi. They are accompanied by Paco Laborantes, another drug peddler in Meryl's gang. She sends them on a mission to steal a priceless diamond from a Japanese tourist staying at a villa on Hawaii Island. Before they leave, they are accompanied by a fourth party member, a boy named Usagi.
They infiltrate the villa and discover that the owner is famous Japanese manga artist, Rohan Kishibe. As they sneak around, they are attacked by a Stand power that controls string, possibly controlled by a stray cat wandering around nearby. They also discover that Rohan has been studying lava rocks and is keeping them in a safe along with the diamond they are there to steal.
Eventually, Rohan catches wind that they have arrived to steal it and attacks them with his Stand, Heaven's Door. He confronts them, but they do not give up information easily, but Rohan makes sure that they are not here to steal the diamond because they "know" what it is, they are just in it for the cash, which he is relieved about. Eventually Jodio catches back up with his friends and disarms Rohan, teasing him about how the lava rocks he kept in the same safe as the diamonds are probably more valuable than he let on. Rohan lets him get away with it but warns him that there is a responsibility that comes with having it, and that he will be chased for it.
Battle in the Jungle[]
After leaving the jungle, him and the group are apprehended by the three cats and attacked by their wire Stand. Jodio is hung upside down while the lava rock, diamond, and Pink Dark Boy manuscripts are stolen. Usagi is nowhere to be found while the rest of them are tied together in wire, and they assume he ran off with the valuables.
Jodio and the other two continue to be antagonized by the three cats, and they observe that the wires come from the fur on their tails. As the situation becomes more dire, Jodio tries to use his Stand to get an advantage, but to no avail. Suddenly, Usagi reappears with the car and rams into the tree, causing the cats to loosen the wires slightly. Usagi gets out to reassure them that he never abandoned them, and that he specifically put Rohan's 400-dollar caviar into the burger he bought at the airport for a situation just like this. He has Dragona call out to his Stand to turn into a net, which he lures the cats into using the lava rock, that attracts valuable objects (the caviar in their stomachs.)
Jungle Aftermath[]
Returning to the mainland after the jungle, the group decides to eat and test out the capabilities of the lava rock in the two hours before their flight takes off. They decide to test it on luxury watches in a nearby shop, where Dragona and Usagi go in, and Jodio and Paco stay behind. The two of them wait for a while until they look inside the fast-food bag they bought, and they realize someone has been watching them. Since before the lava rock got to Rohan's villa, he's been being watched, and whoever it was put the dead remains of the cat trio inside Jodio's lunch bag. Jodio realizes that this must be some mob connection, and stays firm in that he's protecting the rock, to Paco's confusion.
While they talk, Paco appears behind him and starts talking about how long the chicken line is, and Jodio realizes there was two Paco's this whole time. The imposter Paco's skin starts reeling back and he reveals that he wanted to nix this problem before Jodio found out too much, but it's too late for that now. The man attacks them and disables Jodio, but he is able to patch up his neck wound with a bandage. Dragona and Usagi soon join them, and they wonder whether or not this enemy is human. Jodio uses November Rain to try to air the enemy out, as he is able to use sand particles to make himself disappear, but the enemy gets away.
The group looks all over for him until they track him by letting the diamond pull itself towards the Lava Rock to a nearby beach where they corner him underwater. Jodio uses November Rain to push air from a nearby float into his mouth in order to drown the enemy while they struggle underwater.
The Second Mission[]
The battle ends abruptly and Jodio and co. make their former enemy a team member of theirs. He introduces himself as Charming Man, and he met Rohan while investigating a strange occurrence surrounding the lava rocks. His motives are pure, as he wants to find a way to save his little brother, so he accompanies Jodio and the others back to Oahu.
Once they arrive, they tell Meryl Mei Qi of their journey, and she becomes intrigued by the prospects of the Lava Rock. She listens to Charming Man's story and agrees to research the Lava Rocks on Hualalai, saying that their next mission is to investigate the top of the mountain so they can take full advantage of the powers of the Lava Rock. The gang makes their way to the Hawaii State Land Registry Office, where they view the documents needed to steal the land and touch it with the Lava Rock so that it will come back to them.
As they are leaving the facility, Usagi is attacked by an unknown Stand that has burrowed into his heart. Charming Man is able to use his Stand to see inside his chest and attack it, but touching the Stand infects him with cancer. Dragona and the woman who helped them see the land deeds are also afflicted with a similar disease as Usagi. They eventually discover the user of the Stand is a little girl named Lulu, who is partnered with a man named Bobby Jean, who uses his Stand Glory Days to attack the crew with slow moving bullets.
Bobby Jean chases the gang around the hospital while the lot of them fend for their lives, until a confrontation in the bathroom with Jodio leaves Bobby Jean out of commission. With her partner taken out, she rushes to his side and recalls her Stand, healing those afflicted with disease, and letting Jodio and co. escape.
The crew discovers a banker has also fallen ill after the events at the hospital, and his belongings were brought to them by the Lava Rock. His belongings, which show that the bank has been collecting billions in debt from Howler, give Jodio the resolve to take down the bank and Howler, and collect the debt in his stead. They take Mack with them as they depart back to Meryl Mei.
Personality Traits[]
Jodio is obsessed with "mechanisms" of the world and uses that word as a replacement for "system." As a Joestar he is very righteous and good hearted, but he is not afraid to do bad things for a good cause, exemplified when he brutally attacked two police officers who assaulted his sister, how he lit the school bus on fire after Dragona was bullied, and how he deals illegal drugs all for the means of protecting his mother.
He was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder when he was younger, and commits violent acts on his own urges, usually in defense of those who he lives, like when he set a school bus on fire in defense of his sister.
When Usagi professes his love for Dragona, she mentions that them two siblings have little interest in that sort of thing, implying that Jodio too has no desire for love.
Stand[]

November Rain[]
Jodio seems to have been born with the ability to use November Rain, or at least had the potential to use it since birth, like his grandfather Joseph.
November Rain is a close range natural non-humanoid Stand that stands tall above its user and causes its rain to fall beneath itself. Due to the fact that it is non-humanoid, it possesses no combat ability, and unlike most other Joestar Stands, it cannot fight for its user in the traditional sense.
- Heavy Rain: Jodio is able to apply the weight, or "gravity" of the objects he is touching to the force on the rain drops, as when he attacks a police officer, he is touching his truck while the rain falls on him. These raindrops are so heavy that they are able to completely crush the adult police officers.
- Rain Generation: The Stand itself seems to create a perimeter where the rain is able to fall, which itself gives November Rain a range of 7 meters. The rain falls within the perimeter of itself, but it can also be generally generated without the Stand itself forming.
- Rain Bullets: When positioned correctly, November Rain is able to shoot out bullets of rain drops like a gun.
- Water Manipulation: Jodio is able to summon raindrops within enclosed spaces, such as his own mouth, to wash a bullet fired from Glory Days out of his mouth.
- Wall of Rain: Jodio's rain can be turned into a wall of water that has the power to block projectiles from hitting him, acting as a shield that can even stop bullets, as demonstrated when Jodio was shot by Bobby Jean's Glory Days.

Jodio first revealed in the New Year's card
Trivia[]
- Jodio was first revealed in Hirohiko Araki's New Year's 2023 card.
- "Jodio" is a Spanish word meaning "fucked up." This could relate to his actual personality, as he has gone to therapists to see if his is anti-social, and he has shown to have violent tendencies.
- It might also be worth noting that his name seems to be a conjunction of "Joestar" or "JoJo," and "Dio." This may hint at how Jodio is righteous as a Joestar but is not afraid to do bad things to get what he wants, like Dio.
- This was confirmed to be Jodio's official namesake in Hirohiko Araki's Manga Technique: How to Create Villains.
- Another parallel to draw is that Dio's original motivation in Part 1 was to steal the Joestar fortune, and Jodio's primary motivation is to get rich.
- It might also be worth noting that his name seems to be a conjunction of "Joestar" or "JoJo," and "Dio." This may hint at how Jodio is righteous as a Joestar but is not afraid to do bad things to get what he wants, like Dio.
- Jodio is 15 years old in Part 9, and Araki describes in the author's note of Volume 1 that that is around the age where you start to think seriously about your future. Coincidentally, or maybe this was done on purpose, it lines up with Araki's own experience, as according to him in Manga in Theory and Practice, he was 16 years old when he decided that the career he wanted to pursue was that of a mangaka.
- Jodio's belt-buckle from his appearance as a child in Chapter 13 is identical to Jolyne's belt-buckle that she wears at some parts during Part 6.
- Araki reveals in JOJO magazine Winter 2024 that he loves to draw Jodio with his arms up in reference to a Hawaiian rain summoning ritual.
