“Not so fast!”
Kai is one of the Ninja, the main protagonists of LEGO Ninjago. He is the main protagonist of the pilot episodes, Tournament of Elements, the Fire Chapter of Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu, Dragons Rising Season 2, and the deuteragonist of The Hands of Time.
Kai is the hot-headed and passionate red ninja. He first met Master Wu while working in his father's blacksmith shop and has since been an integral part of the Ninja team. In the pilot episodes, Kai joins the Ninja team to save his sister, Nya, from the clutches of Lord Garmadon. In Season 4, he joins a tournament with his fellow Ninja among other Elemental Masters to find out what happened to their friend Zane. Season 7 reveals that Kai and Nya's parents were being held captive by Krux, who was using their blacksmithing skills to craft armor and weapons for his army. In the Fire Chapter, Kai's powers are stolen by the Serpentine sorceress, Aspheera, and used to power her army of Pyro Snakes. In the following Chapter Kai regains his powers.
After The Merge, and Kai went missing, he eventually met up with Lloyd again and went off in search of the other Ninja in the newly merged realms. He now assists Lloyd and his students in the battle with Imperium's Claw, then later the Wolf Mask Army, and the Forbidden Five.
He is the Elemental Master of Fire, a master of Spinjitzu and Airjitzu, and a user of Rising Dragon.

Usually Kai has brown spiky hair and thick eyebrows with a scar through one.
In his movie redesign his hair is spiked upwards more like actual fire and he gets a bandage above his left eye.

Elemental Powers/Abilities[]
- Fire: Being the Elemental Master of Fire, Kai can create Fire with his own hands and either throw it, use it as boxing gloves, or unleash a burst of flames towards his opponents. It is also shown that he can withstand high temperatures and walk through fire unharmed. He also has the ability to move fire at will.
