King Kalmaar is the former King of Merlopia and leader of the Ma Aray Guards. He is the main antagonist of Seabound.
Kalmaar was born the Prince of Merlopia, and heir to the throne. One day when he was young, him and his father discovered a young amphibious boy lost in the sea, and he was adopted as his brother. Kalmaar would grow to hate Benthomaar, and instead of spending time with his brother or doing other princely deeds, he would research ways of resurrecting the sea serpent Wojira in order to take back the realm of Ninjago from the land dwellers. He would eventually discover a way to do so, by collecting the Storm and Wave Amulets. The Ninja attempt to stop him, but they accidentally aid in his mission, and the sea serpent is awakened. After she floods Ninjago, Kalmaar battles against his brother and the Ninja, but is consumed by Wojira in the end.
