This is a list of My Experiences in Pokémon Games through the years. Games are listed in order of region, meaning even if a game was released in a subsequent generation, if it takes place in Kanto, it will be listed in Generation I.

This list takes the place of the NINE pages I previously had detailing all of this.

Main Series[]

Generation I - Kanto Games[]

Pokémon Red Version (2016) ✅🔵💀

I played Pokémon Red Version on the Nintendo 3DS's Virtual Console in February 2016. This was the first time that I ever beat a Kanto game in its entirety.

My player character was Red and my partner was Cham the Charizard.

Pokémon LeafGreen Version (2013) 🌟✴️[]

I played Pokemon LeafGreen Version on my Nintendo DS Lite. I borrowed the game from my friend David. I never finished this game but I got up to the Elite Four before I either had to give the game back or I just didn't feel like going past it.

My player character was Venan and my partner was Venusaur.

Pokémon Let's Go! Pikachu (2019) 🌟[]

I got this game for Christmas and played co-op mode with Ian. I beat this game with him relatively quick.

My player character was Lancer, and my partner was Lemon Grab the Pikachu.

Generation II - Johto Games[]

Pokémon Gold Version (2012) ✅💀

I played this game on Marcello's old GBA. The cartridge does not work anymore. When I played it I really only got up to maybe the third gym or so. Also, because I used Marcello's old GBA, the battery was dry and I couldn't add new ones, so every time I booted up the game I had to start all over again.

My character's name was Charman because I thought Charmader was the starter I would pick...

Pokémon Crystal Version (2017) 💀[]

I played this game on an emulator on my phone. On this one I tried to complete the PokéDex (to the best of my ability) but I never finished it. It was on this play through that I got my third legit shiny Pokémon, a Nidorina. I beat this game, but I don't think I ever got far into the Kanto portion of the game.

My player character was Bob, and my parnter was Muncher the Feraligatr.

Pokémon Heart Gold Version (2017) 🌟🔵[]

I got this game for Christmas and played it in 2017. I never actually finished it, and to be honest, not sure if I even enjoyed it as much as I should have. I only ever got up to the Elite Four. Might give it another shot some day, we'll see.

My player character was Meganan and my starter was Maganium.

Generation III - Hoenn[]

Pokémon Emerald Version (2012) ✅

I played this game on a bootlegged (?) cartridge that Christian gave me in fifth grade. I loved this game. It took me days to finally beat Wallace, but the moment I did, my DS froze, and I've never been able to turn the game on ever again.... Might be my favorite Pokemon game ever.

My player character was Scepten and my partner was Sceptile.

Pokémon Omega Ruby (2014) 🌟[]

I played this game when it came out in 2014, and I think it might be my favorite Pokémon game of all time. Great graphics, story, and all. Waited for so so long for it to come out and it didn't disappoint one bit.

My player character was Bob, and my partner was Mudz4Dayzkip the Swampert.

Generation IV - Sinnoh / Hisui[]

Gen4yo22

Pokémon Pearl Version (2012) ✅[]

I got Pokémon Pearl as a gift from my CCD teacher in fourth grade. She gave it to me, and I was so close to beating it, but I remained unable to defeat Cynthia.

My player character was Torten and my partner was Torterra.

Pokémon Platinum Version (2019) ✅💀[]

I got Platinum for Christmas 2017 and beat it in 2019. Ian helped me a lot, to build my team and such. I liked it a lot more than Pearl, and had a lot of fun with it.

My player character was Jake and my partner was Blaze the Infernape.

Pokémon Shining Pearl[]

I got this game the day that it came out because I split it with Eddie. He got Diamond and I got Pearl. Fair trade! I was really excited for this game to come out; There was a lot of hype surrounding the potential announcement, and then when it finally was it was kind of underwhelming. In the moment it was extremely hype, but as the year went on it just got less and less hype. When I finally got it I really didn't get that same feeling you do when you start a new Pokémon game. During the game was pretty much the same way, I had already played Platinum two years ago and played Pearl when I got it the first time, and the experience wasn't really something to write home about. It is good, don't get me wrong, but it is in my opinion the absolute bare minimum that a Pokémon game can be. No gimmicks, just straight grind. Overall it was a fantastic game, but all it is is a shinier port of the original. Fine by my standards, but didn't "wow" me.

My player character was Bob and my partner Pokémon was Frank the Empoleon.

Pokémon Legends Arceus[]

This is a game I never thought I'd be writing about. Since it was announced I was super hyped, but by the time it came out I was not really that hyped to play. I only got it because Matt took me to get his, and I just wanted to have it too, otherwise I'd be the only of my friends without it. When I got home I booted it up and was pretty easily bored. Eventually I got into the swing of it and had an absolute blast. What a revolutionary game for the Pokémon series. Open world like no other, where catching Pokémon and exploring is so damn fun. Each new area was unique and catching all the new Pokémon in that area just felt right. The story was kind of lacking, but it's never really anything special in a Pokémon game, but damn, the mid final boss with Volo and Giratina was INCREDIBLE. Giratina is one of my favorite Pokémon and Volo was a fantastic twist villain, and OH his theme music... so damn good. The 23 new Pokémon added in this were also really good, I'm glad we're not done with adding to Legendary Trios like how the Expansion Pass in Sw/Sh added to the Regi Trio. Fantastic game with a crazy hard final boss that was absolutely worth it to get to.

My player character was Robert (Bob gone back in time?) and my partner Pokémon was Milo the Hisuian Samurott.

Generation V - Unova[]

Pokémon Black Version (2020) ✅[]

I got this game in 2017 and finally played it in 2020. Ian helped me build my team, same as in Platinum. I enjoyed this a lot more than my first time playing White.

My player character was Bob and my partner was D'Arby the Samurott.

Pokémon White Version (2013) ✅[]

I got this game ages ago, probably 2013 or 14, from my cousin David. When I played this game, I hated it. Gen 5 was my least favorite for a long time. I can't even remember how far I got, I just remember hating it.

My player character was Serpen and my starter was Serperior.

Pokémon Black Version 2 (2012) ✅[]

My very first Pokémon game ever... I don't remember much, but I enjoyed it a lot. I beat it first try with my level 100 Infernape. Good times.

My player was Emblen and my partner was an Infernape I got from trade at level 1 that I trained to level 100.

Generation VI - Kalos[]

Pokémon Y (2013)

I played this game twice. The first time in 2013 when I got it, where my player character was Delphen and my partner was Delphox, and the second time as master of the PokéDex, Bob, who's partner was Greninja. In this game I managed to collect every single Pokemon that was possibly available at that time. It took me a few months but I got all 721 of them from Bulbasaur to Volcanion. I even tried to do a Shiny Pokemon version of the National Dex, but that fell flat for obvious reasons

My first player was Delphen, and my partner was a Delphox.

My second player was the first incarnation of Bob and my partner was Greninja.

Generation VII - Alola[]

Pokémon Sun (2016) ✅✅[]

I got this game for my birthday in 2016, and even though the event of getting it was a little dramatic, all was well. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

My player character was Deciduen and my partner was Decidueye.

Pokémon Ultra Sun (2020) ✅[]

I got this game on Christmas the year it came out and didn't play it until 3 years later. It was a hoot! Definitely more enjoyable than the first time I played Sun, and lemme tell ya, I liked it a lot.

My character was Bob, and my partner was Stella the Primarina. On this game I completed the entire Generation VII Pokedex.

Generation VIII - Galar[]

Pokémon Shield (2020) ✅[]

I got Pokémon Shield for Christmas in 2019 when it came out and played it the following Summer. I actually liked it a lot more than a lot of other people did, and had a lot of fun.

My player character was Carl and my partner was Bugs the Cinderace. It was on this save file that I completed the entire Galar Pokedex so far.

Expansion Pass Part 1: Isle of Armor (2020) []

In the first DLC for Shield, the Isle of Armor, my team didn't change that much except I swapped out Da Baby the Drewdnaw for Canespada the Zamazenta and Dino the Toxicitry for Earnest the Urshifu.

Expansion Pass Part 2: Crown Tundra (2020) ✅[]

In the second DLC for Shield, the Crown Tundra, my team remains relatively the same except I swapped out Stew the Orbeetle for Fargburg the Calyrex, and Stew the Orbeetle for Da Baby the Drednaw.

Generation IX - Paldea []

Genuinely what a fantastic game. Had pretty levelled expectations after Gen 8 but I was excited nonetheless because of how good Arceus was, but my expectations were EXCEEDED. This is the first Pokemon game I've ever played where I went into it completely 100% blind, and what an experience it was. Being able to encounter new Pokemon for the first time and see them out in the wild was such a great experience. Saying "what in the fuck is that" and running up to it to battle is something I will never forget lawl. The dex in this gen I think has to be one of the strongest in a WHILE. All three starter evolutions are good, the legendaries are great, and some of my favorite new Pokemon are Roaring Moon, Clodsire, and Annilape. The open world aspect I also really really enjoy. I found a guide to use on which gyms were the strongest and weakest and LOOSELY followed it. I just went counter clockwise around the map and I faired pretty well. I think adding the Team Star bases and the Titan battles to the mix with the gym leaders was a nice touch because it elongated my playtime. Just exploring the region was a blast too. Also, elephant in the room, the performance issues were there ... but It wasn't a serious detriment to my playthrough. Sometimes there was slowdown, but nothing stopped me from playing the game. Graphics also looked pretty decent when they wanted to, too. Overall brilliant game held back a little by the performance issues, but a huge huge step up from Gen 8.

My player character was Bob, and my partner was Weed Card the Meowscarada.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero[]

Part 1 was not really horribly bad. Better than Gen 8 DLC, but kinda still underwhelming a little bit. Gameplay was really mid, walk around catch some pokemon, take a selfie and battle your rivals a bit. Idk if it's just this game but I realized that Pokemon gameplay has never really been "riveting." Really felt like I was playing a Game Boy game with good graphics here. I am not usually one to complain about modern Pokemon but this just didn't really do it for me as much as I'd have liked. I did enjoy all the new Pokemon to catch, in fact I loved Ogerpon, and I liked both new rival characters, but that's about it. I kind of expected more from this one because the way it was marketed made Kitakami seem really interesting, but it really just felt like a little corner of Paldea. Whereas in the Sw/Sh DLCs the two new areas were really unique (tropics / tundra) this place did not feel any different than mainline Paldea at all. Grasslands, a small mountain, and like some small badlands area and a forest and that was about it. One single town that was boring and looked pretty much just like any other average town, and nothing that really made me feel like I was in a foreign region. There were those couple of sign posts that were Japanese inspired, and the area where the festival was, but it didn't really make me feel like I was somewhere different. It was all very kinda boring I should say? Another thing is I really REALLY felt how slow this game is while playing this. Waiting for battle animations to finish, chugging through dialogue, watching NPCs disappear and reappear two feet in front of me ... Idk . I hoped for more. This was the part of the DLC I was looking forward to and now I am tempering my expectations for the second one. Maybe they'll go all out because it's the one with Terapagos and I think he's pretty important, so who knows.

Part 2 was more of the same. I'm not big into the Pokemon formula unchanged and slow as balls on this new console that looks like dick. The new region was boring, the four areas were bland and uninspired, and the Elite 4 was decent to okay. Dreyden and Kieren were cool, but the rest blew. I hate the Elite 4 Challenges, those were like gym leader challenges but more makes me not want to play this dumb game. Game was at least a little difficult, the final boss had me scared for my life. Kind of wish Terapagos had a bigger thing to do with the plot of this DLC, he was like stuck in at the end like it was something else. So dumb I think lol. Overall I think the presentation is worse than the previous DLC but I like the story a little more. The new characters are way better, I don't know if I can say the same about the new Pokemon though. Whatever! I'm sick of Paldea, I'm glad I'm done with Gen 9!

I ended up catching a shiny Luxray and replaced the Kilowattrel on my team with him in the first part of the DLC. I also swapped out the Palafin because he was so fucking weak but didn't find anything to replace him with.

Pokémon Quartz Version (2020)🔖[]

I first heard about this game sometime around 2013 when I read Zorak's lets play of it, and I wanted to play it since then for so long. I got my first shot in 2016, but the game I downloaded wasn't finished, and I was stuck at one spot.

In 2020 I tried again, this time with the intent to finish it and the Pokédex. And I did it! I finally 100% completed this game after almost 7 years!

My player character was Bob, and my partner was Swish the Oceadino.
