Vulcanus is the initial Persona of Tatsuya Suou and a Demon in the Shin Megami Tensei series featured in Persona 2: Innocent Sin.
He appears for the first time in the game after Tatsuya is attacked by Eikichi Mishina in Sumaru Prison. The symbolism for the flames on his shoulder come from the lighter Jun Kurosu gave as a gift to Tatsuya.
It evolves into Vulcanus Prime after making all the right choices and meeting Philemon at Mt. Iwato, and later evolves into Apollo.
Physical Appearance[]
Vulcanus is a humanoid Persona with mechanical elements. He wears armor and has gears all around him with his design being reminiscent of a lighter, calling back to Tatsuya's lighter he received from Jun as a child.
Vulcanus evolves into Vulcanus Prime and has longer appendages and more armor.
Design Variants[]
Vulcanus appears as a spell card.
As Reverse Vulcanus his colors are more muted when he is wielded by Tatsuya Sudou.

Mythological Origins[]
Vulcan, also known as Vulcanus, Volcanus or Mulciber, is the Roman god of fire, volcanoes, deserts, smiting metalworking, and the forge. He also has associations as a god of male fertility. Vulcan is said to be the patron of artists and inventors., He was often seen as a counterpart to Greek god Hephaestus and the Etruscan God Sethlans.
